Customize Gyaanmitra

Profiles

Bundle extensions, settings, shortcuts, and layout into a named profile. Switch the whole setup in one click.

Why profiles

One set of extensions and settings does not fit every kind of work. You might want a light "writing" profile for docs, with a quiet UI and no language servers, and a heavier "full-stack" profile with everything your main project needs. Switching profiles is quicker than turning extensions on and off by hand.

1

Open Profiles

Click the profile icon at the bottom-left of the Activity Bar, or run Profiles: Manage Profiles from the Command Palette.

2

Create a new profile

Start from an empty profile, copy your current setup, or import a profile someone shared as a .code-profile file.

3

Choose what it includes

Pick which pieces come along: settings, keybindings, snippets, extensions, and UI state. A profile can be narrow, or it can carry almost everything.

4

Switch anytime

Switching applies right away, in this window or in new windows. You do not restart Gyaanmitra.

Sharing a profile

Export a profile as a .code-profile file, or as a link if you have published it. A teammate can import the same extensions and settings. That is a simple way to share a setup for one project.

Profiles are per-window

Different Gyaanmitra windows can use different profiles at the same time. One window can sit on a "backend" profile and another on "frontend", each with only the extensions that fit that work.
